The type of pattern this Kohaku possesses is called oomoyo. Kohaku with Oomoyo does not show much elaborate quality during the early stages of its development, it is hardly noticed in a Koi show during its early period (1~3 year). But when it matures and grows to a bigger size Koi, then it starts to exhibit its dramatic presence. The dynamic nature of its pattern becomes highly attractive.
Oomoyo type Koi cannot compromise in its body line and color. In this Kohaku, the odome seen in the white skin above the tail is essential for the expression of its clean refined elegance. The body of this small odome already displays a very sophisticated look.
Notice the left cheek around the eye. You will see the pattern coming down and covering both the cheek and the eyelid. When the Koi grows up, this overflow portion of the hi will create a uniquely original pattern to be deeply appreciated.
Also note the white line called kirekomi near the dorsal fin. Kirekomi means a cut that goes inward; almost invaginated. This krekomi displayed in white in the middle of the hiban makes the Kohaku more interesting and to be appreciated.
Beni in Sebire (dorsal fin) will move downward and the dorsal fin will display straight white clean appearance. Beni and skin quality is excellent throughout the body.
Bodyline too is excellent as it does not have interrupted big and small uneven flow; instead, the flow of the volume is smooth and regulated. Smooth and straight line from the head to the tail is an indication of the solid body structure that can support and sustain future growth.
